Susan has served interior design professionals for over 20 years and is the co-creator of the Sewing and Upholstery Retreat. In the PM session, Susan will be doing 4 half hour demo zones:
Grommet Draperies with Pleats: Grommet draperies are typically very simple, with minimum fullness for a simple, wave heading. By adding pleats in combination with grommets, you can create an updated contemporary style, with more traditional pleating and fullness. Susan will show examples of operable pleated draperies with grommets placed in the spaces, and an inverted pleated drapery with an attached grommet heading.
Italian Stringing: A timeless technique, Italian stringing creates a soft and elegant drapery that is pulled back with hidden cords. Susan will show how to achieve different looks using Italian stringing, and how to update the method to meet current cord safety standards.
Relaxed Shades: How many ways can you create relaxed style shades? It’s probably more than you think. In this demonstration, Susan will share different techniques for creating shades with a soft, relaxed bottom hem.
Shaped Banding: Bandings can add a crisp detail to pillows, draperies and top treatments but it doesn’t have to be in a straight line. Susan will show how to create banding to fit around curves and is shaped in a unique fashion to embellish straight edges.
